Hastings beach sunset.jpg

why

LØVE2PARTY is based at Hastings which is beautiful and vibrant place with a relatively clean beach, usually. However, get close up and the beach is littered with waste from locals and tourists or blown from inshore. You can see the aftermath of beachgoers and their parties & beach barbecues, with disposable cutlery, beer cans, plastic & glass bottles left abandoned on the beach. LØVE2PARTY attends regular beach cleanups, and while cleanups help, it would be even better if people threw away their litter, or took it home and recycled it, or even better not using disposable items in the first place.

According to the World Bank. Globally this problem is an even bigger scale with global annual waste at 2.01 billion tonnes in 2016, plastics were 242 million tonnes of this, and is expected to jump to 3.4 billion tonnes over the next 30 years.

22KG OF PLASTIC WASTE IN THIS WHALE

More recently there has been shocking news stories of ocean plastic (and other waste) turning up inside wildlife. Like the tragic story of this pregnant sperm whale found dead in Sardinia with 22kg of plastic in her stomach, including fishing nets fishing line, bags of washing detergent and most shockingly actual plates!

Another shocking report from the autopsy of a Cuvier’s beaked whale in the Philippines 40kg of plastic bags found in a whale in the Philippines.

how do we stop this waste?

What can we do in our daily lives to prevent this mess? What about those beach barbecues or party gatherings, what can we do on special occasions to prevent the waste?Shouldn’t we have a reuse system instead of throwing things away?

one party of 30 kids ≈ 442 pieces disposable plastic/waste

There must be a better way to do parties without the waste…

Well actually there is…..

The dream target is zero waste parties. Zero is Ø or Love in tennis.

Ø = LØVE = ZERO

What a great score to aim for… LØVE.

So LØVE2PARTY began

The LØVE2PARTY kit is a reusable child safe party package, that provides lasting reusable washable plates, cutlery, table cloths, napkins, decorations, etc and much more besides. In a pre packed kit tailored to the customers need, It is designed with fun & convenience in mind and zero waste as the target.

NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC

One major requirement of the kit has been reusable rather than single use, which ruled out compostable leaf plates. Plus we wanted child safe and dishwasher safe to be convenient as possible and yet avoid broken crockery. We investigated bamboo plates which on the the face of if sounded good but after researching deeper they turned out to be bamboo mixed with melamine. Melanie is not a healthy material for kids eat off.

So our kit is not plastic free, but it is single use plastic free and single use everything free, even the candles we ask to be returned to be reused, and even the stumps of wax will be melted down to make new candles.

VERY LIBERATING.

The resulting kit can be used time and time again for hundreds, maybe thousands of children, so please join us to change the way parties happen.

Hire our kit for you next booking or if you are reading this far away can we help you set up a zero waste LØVE2PARTY kit of your own?
